Ondřej Basjuk patří mezi autory mladší generace, kteří pracují s rozmanitým a mnohovrstevnatým dědictvím malby s respektem a zároveň bez rozpaků. Z jeho obrazů, ale i kreseb, objektů a instalací jasně vyplývá, že tu nejde o pouhé vnější sebevymezení vůči starším umělcům nebo o prvoplánové útoky na kulturní dědictví. Přitom je ale v jeho práci přítomna strategie zcizování, boření, rozkládání, destrukce a přetváření toho, co nazýváme obrazem. Bezprostřední vstup do problematiky přetváření či dekonstrukce obrazu tkví u Basjuka v posunu těžiště samotného myšlení. To aktivně reaguje na různé druhy manipulací uvnitř i vně umění. Právě reakce na tyto podněty, které nejsou pouze umělecké, se u něj podílejí na proměně malířského tvarosloví a celkového pojetí obrazu.

Ondřej Basjuk belongs to the authors of the younger generation who work with the diverse and multi-layered heritage of painting with respect and at the same time without embarrassment. It is clear from his paintings, as well as drawings, objects and installations, that this is not merely an external self-definition against older artists or a front-line attack on cultural heritage. At the same time, in his work, the strategy of alienation, destruction, decomposition, destruction and transformation of what we call an image is present. Basjuk's immediate entry into the issue of reshaping or deconstructing the image lies in the shift of the center of gravity of thinking itself. It actively responds to various kinds of manipulations inside and outside of art. It is the reactions to these stimuli, which are not only artistic, that contribute to the transformation of the painter's morphology and the overall concept of the image.
